Lake
Arrowhead Living
This quaint mountain community is located about 90 miles east of
downtown Los Angeles and approximately 65 miles away from Orange
County and has a year-round population of about 11,000. Lake
Arrowhead overlooks.....
.....San Bernardino and is easily accessible via Highway 18. Also
known as "Rim of the World Highway," Highway 18 has been designated
a national scenic byway due to its beautiful panoramic views. Real
estate market options consist of single- family homes, condominiums
and townhouses for sale offering stunning scenic views of the
surrounding lakes and mountains. The community has an altitude of
5,100 feet and is nestled in a towering pine forest setting that
surrounds a 784-acre private lake. The fresh mountain air and the
four-season climate create an environment totally unique to Southern
California. The community offers.....
.....great opportunities for fans of the
outdoors, whether you enjoy skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing,
horseback riding, boating, water sports or almost anything else. The
schools in the area are strong and pride themselves on the support
of the community. After graduation, many students continue their
educations at Valley College and California State University at San
Bernardino, which are within a 40-minute drive. Several
nationally-known educational facilities are also located within an
hour’s drive. Although some neighboring parts of the communities,
but not the area itself, were significantly damaged by wildfires in
2003, the community remains strong and is still one of the state’s
safest, most beautiful places to live. You are sure to find more
than a few things to love in the in this beautiful community.
Lake Arrowhead itself is a man-made feature originally created in
the early 20th century as a reservoir. State laws later prohibited
its use for this purpose. In the 1920s, a small alpine village was
erected on the lake’s southern shore. The original village has since
been replaced with a lakefront shopping center and the beautiful
Lake Arrowhead Resort Hotel. Nearby, the Blue Jay Village and Agua
Fria communities also provide fine shopping and dining options. Blue
Jay is the home of the internationally famous Blue Jay Ice Castle,
International Training Center and a convenient multi-screen movie
theater complex. For skiers, the Snow Valley downhill facility and a
cross-country ski resort are nearby.
Lake Arrowhead
offers a wide variety of housing options, including single-family
detached homes, condominiums and townhouses. Many properties for
sale offer spectacular lake, coastline, mountain, hilltop, valley,
canyon or panoramic views. Prices for single-family detached
properties for sale start in the mid-$100,000s. Some brilliant large
estate properties in breathtaking locations and offering lake
frontage are priced at around $1 million and more. Though the
majority of housing options in the area are single-family detached
houses, there are some condominiums and townhouses available at
prices starting around in the mid-$100,000s and ranging up to the
mid-$400,000s or more. Some of the condos are located in gated
communities that feature fantastic resort-style amenities. Land and
lots are amply available for custom home building in Lake Arrowhead.
There are some 10,710 lots
in "Arrowhead Woods," where property ownership provides the right to
use the private lake for boating, swimming, fishing and other
recreational purposes. Some full-time residents use their homes to
operate home-based businesses and for telecommuting. This working
arrangement allows them to enjoy all the many advantages of the Lake
Arrowhead area and still reside within a two-hour drive of major
Southern California attractions such as Disneyland, beaches, the San
Diego Zoo, Palm Springs, Universal Studios Hollywood and much, much
more. Additionally, many part-time residents use their mountain
homes to escape from the urban sprawl and to enjoy weekend, seasonal
and vacation interludes far removed from the chaos of Southern
California city life.
The private,
equity-membership Lake Arrowhead Country Club offers an 18-hole
championship golf course, a swimming pool and seven tennis courts.
The Lake Arrowhead Yacht Club is open during the summer months and
is a Mecca for sailing enthusiasts. Trout and bass fishing are also
popular year-round sports, as is water skiing during the warmer
summer months. Additionally, San Bernardino Forest is home to more
than 2,000 species of flora and nearly 400 species of fauna. Nature
walks, hiking along the numerous local trails, bird-watching and
wildlife studies are favorite pastimes of those who love the
beautiful outdoors.
The Lake Arrowhead
area is home to numerous cultural events and organizations. The
Arrowhead Arts Association hosts a number of jazz and classical
concert presentations during the year as well as an art auction. The
Rim of the World Art Council maintains an art exhibit in Lake
Arrowhead Village year-round, featuring work by numerous local
artists. There are also several active local theater groups.
Major shopping
malls, chain restaurants, off-mountain recreational facilities,
theme parks, golf courses and other highly desirable resources are
just a short drive away. Ontario International Airport – about one
hour's drive from Lake Arrowhead – allows for easy access to the
rest of the country. The Fourth of July Fireworks on the lake is a
Southern California tradition, and one of the many things about
living in this area that you are sure to come to love.
